St. Andrews- March 7th- RESULTS! Wrestlezone debuted in St. Andrews this past Saturday with a stellar card of action, culminating in a successful defence of the Wrestlezone Heavyweight Championship. Opening this show was a special invitation-only Battle Royale with many of the Wrestlezone superstars vying for an early win. Coming out on top was “Diehard” Iain Morris after he last eliminated “Tenacious” Johnny Lions - much to the delight of the crowd. It was then time for our main event, with the Wrestlezone Heavyweight Championship on the line as Scotty Swift made his first defence against one half of the Wrestlezone Tag Team Champions, William Sterling. Before the match, William had the pleasure of informing the crowd that he intended to be the first double-champion in Wrestlezone history. Could Sterling keep to his vow? This was a wild brawl, with both men hitting each other hard on the outside in the opening stages. The crowd was firmly on the side of the champion as Sterling looked to cheat his way to the championship gold. | ![]() Report by Bill Harper |
Feb 28, Dunfermline Dell Farquharson Leisure Centre Show ReportBy Bill HarperWrestlezone made its debut in Dunfermline this past Saturday with the night of action being topped off by the crowning of a new Wrestlezone Heavyweight Champion Mikey Morris V Jason Rotanda The night’s opening contest was a re-match from Grangemouth as “The Prodigy” Mikey Morris looked to avenge his loss against Jason Rotanda. Once again, Rotanda had the power edge, but Mikey was able to use his skills to escape the clutches of Rotanda, and scored the win with his Corkscrew Moonsault. Now with the score even, what is next for these two? Iain Morris V Johnny Lyons The second match of the evening was a special grudge match pitting “Tenacious” Johnny Lions against “Diehard” Iain Morris – with the prize for the winner being a spot in the night’s main event match and a chance to win the Wrestlezone Heavyweight Championship. Both men had chances to win this and it looked like it would be “Diehard” clinching the victory after hitting a Tiger Driver for a near-fall. As Morris ascended to the top rope, the end looked near for his opponent, however in a move of desperation; Lions was able to catch Morris with a mid-air Lion Driver which gained him the victory and a spot in the main event title match. Tag Titles Match: Sterling Oil V Cysto & Handy Andy Andrews It was then time for our first title match of the evening, with Wrestlezone Tag Team Champions Sterling Oil taking on “Handy” Andy Andrews & Cysto for the gold. Once again, Sterling Oil were accompanied to ringside by “The Enforcer” Dave Malice and chief financial advisor, Richard R. Russell, and it wasn’t long before they got involved as it looked like Cysto & Andy would score an early victory. Their influence was felt at the end as after mounting a brave comeback, Cysto was isolated by William and Alan Sterling, and an Oil Crash later led to a successful defence of the Tag Team Championships. The numbers game no doubt won this one – but who will be next to try and stop Sterling Oil? Damien V Chaz Phoenix The first match after the break pitted former champion Chaz Phoenix against a man who has been making a name for himself recently, Damien. Damien had to use his speed and agility to outsmart the bigger Chaz, and the finish was a demonstration of this. As Damien went for the superkick, Chaz caught Damien’s foot and then set him up for a Piledriver. However, Damien managed to back-drop Chaz before eventually hitting the superkick for the three-count. This is a massive win for Damien as he continues to climb the Wrestlezone ladder, while “The Most Hated Man in Scottish Wrestling” will no doubt be angry about losing this one. | ![]() Dave Malice V Masked Mauler Our next match was the first chance to see Richard R. Russell’s bodyguard, “The Enforcer” Dave Malice in action, as he took on the Masked Marvel , and what was clear is that Malice is a force to be reckoned with. Marvel had no chance as he was beaten in under one minute, with Malice finishing him off with the Gatecrasher Powerslam. Sterling Oil certainly have a menacing back-up in the form of Dave Malice! Wrestlezone Title: Kongo Kev V Scotty Swift V Johnny Lyons The main event of the evening had the Wrestlezone Heavyweight Championship on the line, with champion Kongo Kev defending against not one, but two opponents – crowd-favourite Scotty Swift and “Tenacious” Johnny Lions , who had beaten Iain Morris to earn this title shot earlier in the evening. The odds were against the champion in this one but Kongo battled valiantly to retain his championship. In the end, however, we did crown a new Wrestlezone Heavyweight Champion . Lions had been taken out leaving us with the battle of the two favourites, Kongo and Swift. As Swift went for the Swift Exit, Kev was able to counter and attempted the Kongo Bomb on Scotty. However, the determined Swift managed to reverse into a backslide, pinning the champion’s shoulders to the mat for the three-count. Ladies and gentlemen, your new Wrestlezone Heavyweight Championis Scotty Swift, despite a valiant effort by Kongo to retain the title. After the match, the new champion celebrated with the Wrestlezone fans. Who will be the first challenger to our new champion? |
